It might seem like just 30 minutes scrolling on your phone, but it’s not only the time you lose, it’s how often your attention gets pulled away, how much energy it takes to keep switching between things, and how you can reach the end of the day wondering where all your time went. Starting today, try something different. Our immune systems have a parasite 🪱 alarm that can get stuck on, according to a new study. A 2026 Nature study from Oxford mapped the whole route and it’s fascinating (PMID: 41813898). A parasite releases a danger signal called IL-33 — your body’s way of yelling “we’ve been invaded.” That signal tells your bone marrow’s construction foreman, GATA-2, to stop building red blood cells and platelets and start mass-producing immune cells like basophils, eosinophils, and mast cells — your immune’s rapid-response crew that dumps histamine. Over-activate that same pathway and you get inflammation and mast-cell disorders. What this can look like in real life: gut issues, histamine intolerance, brain fog, fatigue, random inflammatory flares that seem to come from nowhere.    Here’s what I’ve seen work the best:    1. ⁠Herbal antimicrobials and antiparasitics. Deal with the pathogens.    2. ⁠Calm histamines. I love Quercetin with stinging nettle and DAO histamine enzymes . They act as natural antihistamines that also stabilizes mast cells so they don’t fire in the first place.    3. ⁠Increase electrolytes. One-to-one sodium to potassium with high quality magnesium. Parasite-driven inflammation and histamine both drain fluid and minerals fast, and low sodium especially tanks your energy, focus, and blood pressure regulation. They also make it less hospitable for them to live.    4. ⁠Create nervous system safety. Breathwork, vagal nerve stimulation, journaling, EMDR.
