Attachment is arguably one of the most talked about concepts in yoga philosophy. The Sutras name Aparigraha as a core tenant to living a balanced life. In The Gita, Krishna teaches Arjuna during the first instructions of Yoga ever given that his actions are to serve the Lord and not himself.
I know how hard it is to let go, especially when you had all your hope in one spot. I can promise you what happens on the other side of that is magic.
Science, as it usually does, has caught up to the ancient wisdom of Yoga and started to back it up. Creating for yourself rather than likes or engagement activates a different part of your brain. Being creative for yourself builds more resiliency and provides a steadier release of dopamine rather than creating for an audience. I know how hypocritical that must seem in a post on social media. I see the irony, but take it from me - a girl posting online, make something useless for fun today. Don’t show or tell anyone. Throw it away after. You just activated a part of your brain that I’m sure needs more love.
