Exciting news from Netflix South Africa!
Speaking to a room full of journalists and media practitioners yesterday, Ben Amadasun, the VP of Content for Netflix Middle East & Africa, said “Ten years ago, we set out to share South African stories and voices with the world and today, we are proud to strengthen our partnership with the local creative industry and continue creating exciting stories that will entertain our members in South Africa and around the world. Our slate ahead keeps that ambition alive with the addition of established names alongside bold new production partners across genres from unscripted to thrillers, family dramas and comedy.”
Shows like Blood Legacy, Marked and Tuiskoms will be getting second seasons; Burnt Onion, in collaboration with The Kandasamys director Jayan Moodley, returns with a new addition to their How to Ruin franchise with How to Ruin Diwali: Meeting the Parents. The upcoming films list features Meet the Khumalos 2, Another Disaster Holiday, and Seriously Single Too.
With the slate of new films and television shows, here’s a little watchlist to keep you entertained and caught up while you wait for them to make their way to your living rooms. You’re in for a very good time.
Also coming your way is the highly anticipated first season of Love Is Blind South Africa, hosted by husband and wife Solo and Dine Langa; as well as documentaries-soap following Anele Mdoda and Buzza Mgudlwa’s wedding.
