Maheka, so many of us think about helping. You keep showing up and actually doing it.

Year after year, you make your MCAN fundraiser bigger, more beautiful and more meaningful, raising funds for underprivileged cancer patients at Tata Memorial Hospital. Behind every amount raised is someone waiting for treatment, a family struggling to afford medicines, and a chance to ease their burden.

This year must have taken a different kind of strength—your first event without your mum. I’ve seen Aunty stand so proudly in your beautiful creations, cheering you on every year, knowing the purpose her daughter was working towards. Missed seeing her there. I’m sure she would have been so proud of you.

Such a lovely evening with my chhote papa, Vipul, Tosti, Mamta, Prerna and Jatin—laughing, giggling and watching so many people give so generously. It felt even more special knowing what that generosity could mean for someone battling cancer.

Congratulations, Maheka, and thank you for making us a part of this every year. May God bless you and your family. Came home with a full heart and so much respect for you.

To everyone saying in the comments that SpiceJet offers cheap flights, let me clarify one thing …there was nothing cheap about our tickets!

My own ticket cost ₹9,892, while many other passengers had paid ₹12,000, ₹15,000, ₹21,000 and even ₹30,000. The fares of other airlines were almost the same.

The problem was that only IndiGo and SpiceJet operate on this route to Gorakhpur, and all IndiGo tickets were sold out. We had very limited options and were practically forced to book SpiceJet.

So please don’t assume that we chose this airline because it was cheap!

Despite paying such amounts, we faced repeated cancellations, endless rescheduling, no proper facilities and absolutely no accountability.

What shocked me even more was what I learned at the ground level. I was told that employees were allegedly being kept in a room and pressured to continue working while dealing with angry passengers.

I also came to know about reports of salaries being delayed for months. Imagine being financially and mentally exhausted yourself, yet being forced to handle hundreds of frustrated passengers.

Passengers are losing their money, time and peace of mind, while ground-level employees are being left to face all the anger. Where are the senior authorities? Who is taking responsibility?

This is not just about expensive tickets or cancelled flights anymore. It’s about passenger rights, employee welfare and basic accountability. We deserve answers, not excuses. Enough is enough!
