992 GT3 Bergsport.
Today we were invited at FAT Mankei for the unveiling of the new 992 GT3 Bergsport. The Bergsport was especially created as a special model for the Alpine regions France, Italy, Austria and Switzerland.
My first thought when seeing pictures online was: another special model with only a few details. But after taking a closer look today, I have to say they put significantly more thought and effort into the details than I initially expected.
A few highlights really stood out to me that were not apparent in the pictures Porsche released: the two tone wheels, which I’ve never seen done like this before, the painted stripe running across the hood, and especially the cross-stitching in the interior. The cross stitching alternates between black and white, with the white stitching representing the silhouette of mountain peaks.
I also really love the Bergsport logo and the combination of the green leather with orange stitching. It works incredibly well with the overall theme of the car and gives the interior a very distinctive look.
The stickers on the front hood were actually only added by the team of the video production with the stops they made and won’t be part of the production car, which I personally think is a bit of a shame. I really like the stickers and think they add a nice finishing touch to the overall concept.
One thing I thought I would have loved to see was magnesium wheels instead of aluminium alloys. However, they specifically chose aluminium due to its greater durability on Alpine and rough roads. In today’s world, where everything seems to get more expensive by the day, why not make a sensible choice where it makes sense?
The PTS Plus “Valleygreen” paint contains subtle orange fragments designed to represent the warm reflection of the sun on snow during sunrise and sunset. It’s one of those colors I’d really love to see outside in direct sunlight. Unfortunately, today’s weather meant we could only see the car inside the Fat Mankei pavilion, so I’d love to see how all these details come together in the sun.
Overall, I’m impressed. The car looks really good, and in my opinion, the concept is a success.
