#BREAKING NEWS: Democrat Abdul El-Sayed has won Michigan’s U.S. Senate race, defeating Republican Mike Rogers and making history as the first Muslim ever elected to the United States Senate.

The historic victory marks a major milestone in American politics, following a highly contested race that drew national attention and strong voter engagement across Michigan, particularly in Dearborn and Metro Detroit.

ICE agent Mario Alberto Morales made his first court appearance Monday morning, days after being indicted on charges he allegedly assaulted a Mexican immigrant by running him over with his SUV.

District Judge Matthew Peneguy informed Morales of his rights and set a bond at $30,0000. Prosecutors had sought a $75,000 bond.
Morales was accompanied by three defense attorneys, including former Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg.
