There are some dates that carry more weight than others. Today is one of them.

I find myself sitting with the reality that for the first time, I cannot celebrate you the way I desire but yet I can’t deny that I believe you’re taking part in the best celebration that can’t be compared to what we have down here. And if I’m honest, grief has made this day both beautiful and unbearably hard.

So yes this day hurts, but I’m choosing to be grateful for the gift of having you at all.

Your life left an imprint that death cannot erase. Your light still guides me. Your strength still lives within me. And your faith continues to carry me through some of the hardest moments of my life. Thank you mommy for everything.
