Complimentary red bandanas are being given out tonight at BC in honor of Welles Crowther. It was his signature piece of attire & was given to him by his fireman father.
After Flight 175 hit the South Tower 9/11/2001, he used his bandana as makeshift protective breathing mask to navigate the burning building. Though he did not survive, his heroism saved up to 18 people from certain death.
Crowther was a lacrosse player & graduate of Boston College. Each year his memory is honored with the ‘Red Bandana’ game. Tonight’s game takes on even more significance, as it is the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
