Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde alleged that actor Dia Mirza has consistently opposed Hindutva, citing her opposition to the Narmada project and the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). She also claimed that Mirza has spoken against efforts to address environmental concerns, despite the BMC itself working in that area, and has opposed statements made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Tawde further said that Mirza’s opposition appeared to be directed against Hindutva and questioned why the actor was telling Hindus how to celebrate Diwali.
