On an early evening many years ago, when our two boys were still young, Peter and I took them for a walk on Otley Chevin.
On this particular day a low cloud hung over the valley floor far below us, obscuring the town of Otley in a thick blanket of fog.
The air around us, high up on the ridge, was crisp and clear and we literally felt as though we were standing on the top of the world looking down onto the clouds below.
Having seen no other living being on our walk that day the passage of time suddenly felt meaningless, as though this arresting spectacle was a gift in which we could exist in a space outside of time and place.
It is an enduring memory that has stayed with all four of us.

It's Sunday morning. I have a fresh cup of coffee right here in front of me and your work. I still can't call it a painting or a picture. If you can see it like I can see it right now, it's an object. It is really, really deep. I'm not going deeper into the composition itself, more like the walking. Yes, I can totally synchronize with the walking. And before I continue my work, I'm going to put on Stefan Obermeier, his electronic version of Grieg's Peer-Gynt Suite. It is walking, watching, and having coffee with the next of your wonderful compositions. Have a wonderful Sunday.
