US stocks surged on Wednesday after Democrats secured control of both the House and Senate in the midterm elections, with the Dow jumping more than 1,000–1,300 points (around 2–2.5%) and the S&P 500 and Nasdaq rising roughly 1.5–2%, adding over $1 trillion in market capitalization as investors embraced the clarity of decisive results and the prospect of gridlock under a divided government.

Initial overnight losses reversed as President Trump accepted the outcome, easing uncertainty, though some AI and data-center stocks faced pressure over potential regulatory scrutiny while sectors like healthcare and clean energy gained.

Cryptocurrencies also pumped in tandem, with Bitcoin rebounding from a brief dip near $75,600–$76,000 to trade above $80,000 as broader risk assets recovered once election uncertainty faded.
