Republicans and Democrats held competing get-out-the-vote events over the weekend in Florida’s sprawling retirement community of The Villages ahead of the November midterm elections. Supporters of President Donald Trump paraded in golf carts decorated with campaign signs and American flags on Sunday, while Democratic supporters rallied in the rain a day earlier. Residents voiced concerns ranging from socialism to growing hostility between neighbors, underscoring political divisions in the traditionally Republican community. #midterms #florida #florida
It's Election Day in America, and the outcome of these midterms could profoundly change the direction of the country. Right now, Republicans hold a slim majority in both houses of Congress. But President Donald Trump's low approval rating has given Democrats hope that they can flip the balance of power. For Democrats to take control of the Senate, they will need to pick up four Republican-held seats while holding onto all their own. For Democrats to regain the House majority, they need to gain three seats. More than 55 million ballots were cast before Election Day, with early voting well ahead of the pace set in 2022’s midterms.
