2000년대는 한국 패션 매거진이 빠르게 확장되던 시기이자, 그 문화의 마지막 전성기로 볼 수 있는 시기였습니다.

해외 패션 매거진 『DAZED』와 『Numéro』의 한국판이 창간되었고, 『MAPS』를 비롯한 다양한 독립 패션 매거진이 등장했습니다. 당시 매거진은 유행을 전달하는 매체를 넘어, 사진가, 스타일리스트, 디자이너, 모델, 뮤지션 등 다양한 창작자와 새로운 문화를 소개하고 연결하는 중요한 플랫폼이었습니다.

이번 큐레이션에서는 당시 실제로 발행된 한국 패션 매거진을 통해 그 시기의 패션과 이미지를 기록합니다. 동시에 당시의 패션이 현재와 어떤 방식으로 연결되어 있는지도 함께 바라봅니다.

최근 다시 주목받고 있는 에디 슬리먼 시기의 Dior Homme와 Number (N)ine을 비롯해, 당시의 아카이브와 스키니 실루엣, 스타일링과 이미지가 현재의 패션 안에서 다시 등장하고 있습니다.

과거의 스타일이 그대로 돌아온 것인지, 혹은 그때 만들어진 이미지와 미학이 현재의 방식으로 다시 해석되고 있는 것인지. 이번 큐레이션은 그 사이에 놓인 연결점을 따라갑니다.

The 2000s marked a period of rapid growth for Korean fashion magazines, and can be regarded as the final golden age of magazine culture.

Korean editions of international titles such as DAZED and Numéro were launched, while a new wave of independent publications, including MAPS, began to emerge. Magazines at the time were more than vehicles for documenting trends. They became influential platforms for discovering and bringing together photographers, stylists, designers, models, musicians, and other creative voices, while shaping and reflecting a rapidly evolving cultural landscape.

Drawing on original Korean fashion magazines published during the decade, this curation revisits the fashion and visual language of the 2000s, while examining the ways in which the influence of this era continues to surface in fashion today.

Archives from the period, including Hedi Slimane’s Dior Homme and Takahiro Miyashita’s Number (N)ine, have recently returned to the spotlight. Their signature skinny silhouettes, styling, and distinctive visual codes are once again finding their way into contemporary fashion.

The return of these styles may be understood as a revival of the past, or perhaps as a reinterpretation of the images and aesthetics shaped during that time through a new lens. The curation follows the connections that emerge between the two.
