One thing caregiving has taught me is that preparation is a gift we give each other.

So many families wait until something changes a fall, a hospitalization, a change in mobility or simply realizing that Mom or Dad could use more help before figuring out what comes next.

But these decisions are much easier to navigate when we’ve already opened the door to talking about them.

There may come a time when family can’t do everything alone and knowing where to turn matters. Having trusted resources in your back pocket can give families more choices instead of having to make rushed decisions during an already stressful time.

Thank you, @homeinsteadinc, for giving me the opportunity to bring attention to this topic and for being a valuable resource for older adults and the families who care about them. Their in-home care services are another option families can explore when a loved one could benefit from additional help, companionship and connection.

We may not be able to predict exactly what the future will bring but we can be better prepared for it. 🤍
