Lately I’ve been spending so much time being an organiser, advocate, teacher, supporter, and cheerleader for other people’s musical dreams that I needed a little reminder that I’m a musician too.
I called up the bro
@hirigotfunk and asked if he’d learn Six60’s Endlessly and meet me at Rockshop.
We did one pass through to make sure we were on the same page, then just went for it. One-and-done. No fuss. Trying to do the same with this post too, so no editing to death or aiming for perfection. 🤍
If y’all approve whānau, maybe this will be the first in a series I’ve been thinking about called “Songs My Students Taught Me.” They’re how I discover new-to-me music these days, including this one. Shout out to Hughie and Tee for introducing me to this and many songs by Six60. 🙌
Huge thanks to Hiriwa (and son 🤍) for showing up and making music with me, and to our friendly folks at Rockshop for letting us borrow one of their fancy guitars and belt this out.
And hey! It’s a small world here in Aotearoa. Someone on here is bound to know
@six60 personally. Maybe we can get a guest spot. Let them know I do harmonies too. 😂
