Sometimes, you don’t realise how important people are until they are no longer there.
My mum once told me about a woman who had to shut down her school after several of her teachers resigned while she was away.
I don’t know why they left. But I couldn’t stop thinking about what their absence meant.
A business can have a great idea, a beautiful building, good systems and even a capable founder. But people are the ones who keep the whole thing moving.
You may be good at marketing, design, sales, customer service, operations and everything in between. But trying to carry everything yourself will eventually drain you.
The right people don’t just take work off your hands. They give you room to do the things only you can do as a founder, build relationships, find opportunities, think ahead and keep growing.
And perhaps that’s why valuing your people matters.
Because when people feel valued, they don’t just work for the business. They become part of what keeps it standing.
People are not just part of the business.
Sometimes, people are the business.
