20-year-old Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, who had accumulated 1,300 flight hours and 3 years of flying experience, has been identified by her family as the co-pilot among nine people killed in a Learjet 60 crash in Palm Beach County, Florida, on November 1, 2026. The aircraft was travelling from Austin, Texas, to North Eleuthera in the Bahamas.

Nathalia earned her private pilot’s licence in 2023 at just 17, while attending West Boca Raton Community High School. Her interest in aviation had already become a career pursuit before she finished school. Her mother confirmed that she was serving as the co-pilot on the flight.

Before the crash, the crew reported icing and moderate turbulence at 35,000 feet and received permission to climb to 37,000 feet. Shortly afterwards, they reported a rapid descent and transmitted a mayday call. All seven passengers and both crew members died.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating. Officials have reported preliminary indications that the aircraft may have begun breaking apart before impact, but the cause has not been established. Investigators are examining the weather conditions and the aircraft’s final moments; no conclusion has been reached about responsibility.
