Ruskin Bond wrote a story about a woman who married seven times and buried every husband. Vishal Bhardwaj filmed it as 7 Khoon Maaf.
The woman was real. Her tomb stands in Chinsurah, on the Hooghly, and you can walk right up to it.
Susanna Anna Maria died in 1809. The seven husbands are legend — the records suggest rather fewer. But the mausoleum is there: a domed, pillared thing sitting alone among palms, grand out of all proportion to the town around it.
Most people who know the story have no idea the grave exists.

Chinsurah is one stop on The Muslin Road.
