With some gentle coaxing from moi, my kind Canadian friend @therealvictorgarber has written a reminiscence for @nymag of his time in the famous 1972 Toronto stage production of “Godspell”—which also unleashed upon the world Andrea Martin, Eugene Levy, @thepaulshaffer, Gilda Radner, Dave Thomas, and my other kind Canadian friend, Marty Short. As it happens, there is a new documentary opening this weekend by @nickdavispro about the Toronto production, entitled YOU HAD TO BE THERE. I’ve seen it and it’s extraordinary: funny, foot-tapping, and surprisingly moving. Read Victor’s piece and see @youhadtobetherefilm

I went to Catholic school. We had to sing Day by Day at folk mass. That’s all I’ll say.

i remember this production but ONLY remembered Victor Garber was in it. He outshone!

I once spilled a tall glass of lemonade on Victor Garber on Pride Sunday 22 years ago when I was a waitress at Extra Virgin and he was a doll about it. ❤️
