Closing this weekend, ‘New Woman, New Vision’ is the first comprehensive exhibition dedicated to the women photographers of the Bauhaus.
MONA was commissioned to conduct a series of interviews with Bauhaus-Archiv director Brigitte Franzen, exhibition curator Kristin Bartels and the three contemporary artists presented alongside the Bauhaus imagery: Sinta Werner, Caroline Kynast and Kalinka Gieseler.
In this clip, Kalinka Gieseler talks through her piece ‘Untitled. The Value of Cleaning’ which references many of the Bauhaus works in the show, as well as addressing the classism which exists in the Bauhaus movement.
Catch the exhibition before it closes on October 4 and watch the full video at bauhaus.de/en/new-woman.
