I LOVE getting to play around with the spatial side of things when I’m playing an organ with pipes spread around the church - particularly when it means you can make leitmotifs move with the story in Lord of the Rings!! US stocks surged on Wednesday after Democrats secured control of both the House and Senate in the midterm elections, with the Dow jumping more than 1,000–1,300 points (around 2–2.5%) and the S&P 500 and Nasdaq rising roughly 1.5–2%, adding over $1 trillion in market capitalization as investors embraced the clarity of decisive results and the prospect of gridlock under a divided government.

Initial overnight losses reversed as President Trump accepted the outcome, easing uncertainty, though some AI and data-center stocks faced pressure over potential regulatory scrutiny while sectors like healthcare and clean energy gained.

Cryptocurrencies also pumped in tandem, with Bitcoin rebounding from a brief dip near $75,600–$76,000 to trade above $80,000 as broader risk assets recovered once election uncertainty faded.
