Annual Tradition: DC Entertainment set the third Saturday of September as the recurring global celebration for the Dark Knight.
History: The very first Batman Day took place on July 23, 2014, to mark the character’s 75th anniversary and align with San Diego Comic-Con. Later celebrations shifted to September to give fans a dedicated annual holiday.
The Character’s Origins: While Batman first debuted in print in Detective Comics #27 on March 30, 1939, September was chosen as a stable standalone time of year for worldwide comic shop events, sales, and special releases like this year’s Batman of Two Worlds.
