Yeah that’s absolute bollocks. I have a diesel and I use shell v power diesel and definitely makes a difference and cleans.

I call bs. I get atleast 100ks extra around town if on 98 or 100 than i do with 92 95.

I put premium fuel in my old 02 lancer due to engine ping and knock sensor not working from what it seems like. Never had a check engine light on for it

I strongly disagree on this one! I’ve torn apart many top ends and 93 octane vs 87 is drastically different on how clean and less carbon build up is in the valves, throttle body, runners, etc. its 93 all day everyday for me in every one of my vehicles

I think some people just believe for no other reason than their imagination tells them that the more expensive, higher octane improves performance. At most, your engine just sounds a little different. But thats not a performance difference. Some fuel brands add more detergents to their higher octane fuel wich will likely cause the engine to sound a little different but thats it. If anything, its the ethanol content in each oct thats mixed in that will make a bigger difference. We have fuel stations where I live that offer ethanol free fuel and race fuel. The 87oct ethanol free fuel is hands down better than any grade of fuel you'll get from any Chevron or Shell which offer arguably the best fuel.
