🚨 𝙎𝘾𝘼𝙈 𝘼𝙇𝙀𝙍𝙏—𝙋𝙇𝙀𝘼𝙎𝙀 𝙎𝙃𝘼𝙍𝙀! 🚨

Someone attempted to “Zelle” me money, but instead of receiving an actual payment, I received this fake email claiming my account needed to be “expanded” to accept funds from a business account.

𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙉𝙊𝙏 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙕𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨.

The scammer pretends to send your payment, then a fake email tells you that additional money is required to upgrade your account. Eventually, they’ll ask you to send or “refund” money—but their original payment never existed.

🚩 Watch for these red flags:

• A payment appears in an email but not in your banking app
• You’re asked to upgrade or expand your account
• You’re told to send money before receiving money
• The message creates urgency or asks you to contact an unfamiliar number
• The sender provides screenshots as “proof” of payment

Never trust an email or screenshot alone. Open your banking app directly and verify that the money is actually in your account before booking an appointment, providing a service or issuing any refund.
