What do you think of the Collins English Dictionary's pick for 2026? The major UK dictionary publisher has chosen the slang word “mogging”, meaning outshining or outperforming someone or something, most often in looks. Mostly used by Gen Z and Gen Alpha, the word went mainstream this year, with a 210% increase in its usage both online and in every day conversation. Shortlisted words included, ghost job, when an employer posts a position with no intention of appointing someone and p(doom), the estimation of probability of an AI-aided collapse of civilisation. Who’s gonna be my accountabillibuddy and remind me to vote tomorrow? DMs are open, boys Not much to be excited about in MA besides the reelecting the auditor and voting yes on 1 to let in the sun ☀️ so that we can once again watch the legislature unconstitutionally strike down transparency laws that we the people create with our co-equal right to make new law 🫠 But those of you in MAGA-infested waters know what to do. Vanquish those white supremacists. And as for Massachusetts, I’ll still be holding neoliberal feet to the fire and reminding them that their sh*t does, indeed, stink. Onward 🔥 👍🏽#vote 👎🏽 #neoliberalausterity #invertedtotalitarianism #authoritarianism #fascism
Day 2 of resharing some of my favorite memories with Nonno ❤️🪽 My nonno and nonna’s story began in Latronico, a small mountain town in southern Italy. Their families were friends, so they had known each other their whole lives, but they started dating when my nonna was just 14 and my nonno was 16. My nonno came from a humble family, but he had big dreams. Those dreams took him to Naples to study medicine, and after earning his degree, he returned home and married my nonna. Just one month after their wedding, he left for America, where the rest of his family had already settled, hoping to build a better life. My nonna stayed behind while he spent a year working, saving, and getting established. When he had enough money, he sent for her to join him. Soon after she arrived, they welcomed my uncle Paul and began building their family together. That young boy from a small mountain town went on to become a family doctor with his own practice in Astoria, Queens, where he cared for generations of families over more than 60 years. To so many people in the neighborhood, he was someone they knew, trusted, and loved. Above everything, though, he was a family man. He loved the life they built in America, though he stayed so connected to the people and the town where it all began. Until the very end, he kept close relationships with his cousins and family in Italy. Hearing the affection people speak about him with, whether they knew him as family, a friend, or their doctor, says so much about the person he was. My grandparents went back to Latronico every summer, and as they got older, those visits stretched into months. My brother and I grew up spending our summers there with them, too. We got to know the people, the food, and the traditions they had grown up with, and made our own memories in the place where their story began. That little town will always hold such a special place in our hearts because of them. They gave us a life here, and they gave us roots there. I’m so grateful we got to share both.
