I’ve been pretty quiet lately because I still haven’t really known how to process any of this.

The last few months were incredibly hard on my first husband, (my son’s dad,) Jason, and on everyone who loved him. We were all hoping and praying for a different outcome. Things changed so quickly, and on August 23, we lost him. He was only 49.

A little over a month ago, I flew to Denver to see him, knowing it was probably goodbye, but still hoping (and begging God) that somehow there would be more time.

Tonight, I flew home after celebrating his life with loved ones and laying him to rest. I’m still trying to understand this.

Jason and I did our 20s together. We did all the “firsts.” Marriage, our first home, and becoming parents. And God, he was FUN. He was the best dad and an amazing uncle, and hilarious friend.

Divorce doesn’t erase a life you shared with someone. It doesn’t erase the love, and it certainly doesn’t erase the grief.

My heart aches in ways I don’t really have words for. For my son, who deserved to have his dad and best friend for so much longer, for Jason’s wife, who lost her husband, for his little girls, who lost their daddy, for his twin brother, who lost a part of himself, and for his entire family who loved him so deeply.

This still doesn’t seem real. I love you, Jason. I always will. 😭💔 Thank you for giving me one of the greatest gifts of my life!!!!

My ex passed away a few years ago and it is still immense loss. He was my kids’ dad and I also always say that he held my twenties and most of the important moments of my life. I’m sorry for your loss.

I’m so sorry Tami..it is heartbreaking to love someone and to see them leave forever..he is still with you through your son knowing that there are similarities that only you can see..I’m sorry for your son knowing that he cannot call his dad or see him..I talk to my mother every night and tell her how my day was and hard things that I am going through..it does help..when your son is ready maybe he can start talking to his dad and to keep him abreast of what’s going on..maybe it sounds crazy but it’s not..again I am so sorry to hear this and I am wishing you and your family peace and love❤️
