Chas Pulido approaches abstraction as an act of physical presence. His canvases emerge through movement, rhythm, color, and an instinctive dialogue with the material, transforming paint into a language of gesture. Working across horizontal surfaces, Pulido developed a highly personal approach to action painting, extending the vocabulary of splatter and drip through unconventional tools and full-body movement. The result is work that feels less composed than activated: vibrant fields of color where organic forms, memory, and the energy of the natural world seem to collide. There is something particularly compelling in Pulido’s practice: the paintings preserve not only an image, but the intensity of the act that produced it. Each surface becomes an archive of motion, experimentation, and momentum. Based in San Francisco with studios in Napa Valley, Pulido continues to push abstraction toward a more visceral territory, one where painting is not simply seen, but felt.
