I personally don’t know @jesstonn. Well, I know her like many of you do. I’m a fan.

And, as a fan of elite runners, I’ve watched her deal with tremendous disappointment after finishing fourth at the Olympic Trials (twice), where only the top three go to the Games. I’ve watched her go from a seemingly sure victory to disappointment after being led off course at the USA Half Marathon Championships.

My son, @just_truett, has trained with her some in Flagstaff and tells me what an amazing person she is. But again, I’ve never actually spoken with Jess.

That didn’t matter Sunday. I was completely locked in watching her run the NYC Marathon.

From the comforts of my couch, I watched her compete in the lead pack most the race, lose contact just a bit, then fight back in an effort to close the gap.

This is SO hard to do.

I’m nowhere near her talent, but I’ve run this race and many other marathons. I know what it feels like when every stride hurts and every step requires a conscious decision not to let up. You cannot take your foot off the gas at all if the dream is to LIVE.

With just a mile or two left as she was in 3rd place overall I can imagine Jess thinking:

“Third at a World Major is good.

First American woman.

Just hold on.

Please, body.”

On TV there were times when she looked 100 meters or more back, but man, she has HEART. And, as a runner, you MUST stay in contact, which she did.

Just in case.

As the finish approached, the winner, Sheila Chepkirui, crossed and second place began to falter. Maybe Jess saw blood in the water?

But was there enough time?

The wheels were coming off 2nd, but the finish line loomed.

Then Jess stormed past multiple-time Olympic medalist Hellen Obiri to claim SECOND PLACE at the 2026 NYC Marathon!

And no, I don’t know Jess McClain.

But watching her will every fiber of her being to give absolutely EVERYTHING she had, honestly, choked me up. This was one of the most thrilling marathons I’ve ever witnessed.

The human spirit is something special.

What an incredible run. Well done Jess and all the competitors. As they say, that was pure cinema. Thank you. 🙏

No other actor is making acting choices in their performances quite like Robert Pattinson right now.

In Lance Oppenheim’s ‘Primetime,’ his portrayal of Chris Hansen is filled with peculiar mannerisms, exaggerated vocal inflections, unsettling expressions, and sudden shifts in tone that make his performance feel electric.

Pattinson seems to take particular pleasure in exploring the strangest sides of his characters, often pushing them to the edge of absurdity. Every gesture, pause, and line delivery feels like a conscious choice, adding another layer to a performer who continues to be one of the most exciting actors working today, if not 𝐓𝐇𝐄 most exciting.
