The "end cap" is called a return, just so you have a name for it. And it looks like you have a general blade on that saw, consider getting a fine finish blade for even cleaner cuts on trim work.

One suggestion: Make a sacrificial fence across the whole bed to bolt over the factory fence. It’ll keep those returns from flying away… as a bonus it’ll help prevent blowout on other cuts.
