My Aunt Mae Mae passed away today. If any of you met her when she worked as a greeter at our stores, you did not forget her. Her gift was loving people. Loving meeting them, talking to them. She worked in retail her entire life and could teach a master class in service. But when I was very young and my mama was a part-time realtor she kept me on the days mama had to work. She walked me through the trails in the woods on the hill where 4 generations of my family have lived. We collected leaves, and glued them into scrapbooks. She showed me the John Wayne movies I needed to know. She taught me the presidents, and we drew them for my scrapbook too. She sang Elvis to me, and told me about Jesus. She saw my creative gifts and knew exactly how to nurture them, helping raise up a professional artist without even realizing it. I hear her laugh in my memory right now, which reminded me of a goose. For the rest of my life I will smell Ivory soap and remember the way she bathed me in her cast iron sink and fed me little ice cream cones with marshmallows and strawberry jam hidden in the bottom. She was so very special, when my last baby girl was on the way I knew what we would name her. Mae. I so hope she got to meet Elvis today!
39 weeks pregnant and prepping for the biggest physical event of my life! 🤰🏼 A little throwback to 6 years ago, 3 days before my son was born. These were two of my go-to moves to prep my body for labour. Here's something I wish more women knew: Birth prep isn't just about doing Kegels OR just releasing your pelvic floor. It's about learning how to strengthen AND release your pelvic floor, use your abdominal muscles effectively, manage pressure, and understand how different positions can support your body during labour. And you can actually TRAIN for these things during pregnancy! Over 15,000 women have now taken Push Prep, combining prenatal Pilates with evidence-based birth education to help you feel stronger, informed, and confident heading into birth. And exciting news! Our next round of LIVE Push Prep classes starts TOMORROW NIGHT! 🎉 Join me every Tuesday at 8 pm ET for prenatal Pilates, birth prep education, and live Q&A. Because you deserve more than a library of workout videos. You deserve real support as you prepare for one of life's biggest moments. 🤰🏼 Comment PUSHPREP and I'll send you my FREE prenatal workshop to help you prepare your body for birth! xo Nikki #prenatalpilates #prenatalfitness #pushprep #thebellemethod #expectingmom
Last night, Democrats flipped both the House and the Senate. Doctors, scientists, and public health leaders won historic victories, including pediatrician Dr. Annie Andrews in South Carolina, epidemiologist Dr. Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan, former state health director Dr. Amy Acton in Ohio, and former HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra in California. For those of us who have watched as propaganda and pseudoscience have been weaponized to justify the systematic dismantling of our nation’s science and public health infrastructure, these victories are huge. A new Congress will have the power to investigate political interference in science, protect research funding, challenge cuts to healthcare, nutrition assistance, and public health programs, and demand accountability from a corrupt, anti-science, anti-health administration, as well as those who enabled them. After everything we’ve witnessed over the past two years, that feels like something worth celebrating.
