My lil subcontractor Dorothy and I will be face painting at @psitheclimbfrederickmd @psi_maryland Postpartum Support International’s The Climb fundraising event over by @thesophiaanncenter for the first time in Frederick on Sunday, September 27 from 10-2.
I have never been to one of these but I know we have to keep the conversation about perinatal mental health going in our communities, away from all the tabloid hysteria (a loaded word in itself especially in this context).
The more I learn about perinatal mood disorders the more I want to reach back to the past and hug my postpartum self as even a short 18 years ago we did not have the tools, knowledge or language that we do now. And that is because it wasn’t being discussed, a mysterious taboo. So come let Dorothy paint your face!
