In the framework of the “Basel & Beyond” Street Photography Exhibition taking place right now at Galerie Katapult in Basel 🇨🇭and organized by the Street Photography Club Basel (SPCB), I am delighted to present the series: “On the Road: A Story of Freedom” this Thursday evening at 7PM during the Artist Talks.

This series draws deep inspiration from Jack Kerouac’s On the Road. It tells a simple yet powerful story of freedom. At its heart is a road trip, a journey of a free spirit traveling along Route 66, through the states of Arizona and Nevada.

There is the open road, classic
diners, canyon views, and the sunset inviting the night. The traveler arrives
in Las Vegas ready to embrace whatever the night may bring. The dawn breaks
once again, illuminating the path back to the road, back to freedom.

This book has been named the Bible of the Beat Generation, an underground culture of artists and writers of the 50’s in the United States that paved the way of future generations, like the hippies in the 60’s or the punks in the 70’s.

On the Road had a big influence in my photography particularly for its “jazzistic” influence, its way of improvisation and free expression. As a photographer, I fell in love with street photography because it allows me to freely express myself. When I am in the streets, I never plan what I am going to photograph and I do not have to think too much to make a picture, I love the improvisation and freedom that street photography gives me. I go on the streets to take pictures, just like a hitchhiker jumps into an unknown car on the road.
