the way they went from barely speaking to becoming each other’s safest place… yeah, I’m still not over them. 🫠🤍

When the Phone Rings (지금 거신 전화는) is a 2024 Korean romance-thriller starring Yoo Yeon-seok as Baek Sa-eon and Chae Soo-bin as Hong Hee-joo. The story follows a couple who have been married for three years through an arranged marriage, yet barely communicate and live more like a public-facing “show window” couple than actual partners.

Everything changes when Sa-eon receives a threatening phone call claiming that Hee-joo has been kidnapped. What begins as a terrifying crisis slowly forces the two to confront the distance, secrets and misunderstandings between them. As Sa-eon tries to uncover the identity and motives of the caller, Hee-joo—who works as a sign-language interpreter—finds herself pulled deeper into a situation that reveals sides of their relationship they had both kept hidden.

With political pressure, family secrets, mystery, danger and a romance that develops beneath all the tension, When the Phone Rings turns a seemingly loveless marriage into a story about communication, trust and two people gradually discovering what they actually mean to each other.

**Baek Sa-eon × Hong Hee-joo — from barely speaking to becoming each other's person. 📞🤍
