⏱️ **5-second PoCUS challenge:** Describe this cardiac scan before the answer appears. What do you notice about the left ventricle?
When assessing **LV systolic function**, look for:
• An enlarged LV, including an end-diastolic diameter greater than 5 cm
• Poor myocardial excursion and reduced wall thickening
• Comparable or additional findings in other cardiac views
**Remember:** Focused cardiac PoCUS helps answer a specific clinical question. You can describe LV systolic function qualitatively as normal or mildly, moderately, or severely reduced, but a visual assessment alone does not give an exact ejection fraction. Consider the full clinical picture and further echocardiographic assessment when a precise measurement is needed.
