TOMORROW 10/27/26 at 5 PM (doors at 4:30 PM)
Wear red ♥️
The Board of Supervisors has the Prosperity Initiative and the County’s new Economic Development Strategic Plan back on the agenda as unfinished business. This is a plan about who Pima County does business with and what values that business should reflect. We need to be in the room to make sure the Board hears us: Pima County should not be doing business with Sundt Construction.
Sundt Construction holds $3 mil in a currently active contract with Pima County for the road improvement project Country Club Rd - Michigan St to Milber St. At the same time, it was awarded $443 mil to build the border wall through Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge: 13 miles of primary barrier and 45 miles of secondary barrier, right here in Pima County.
Federal officials have waived the environmental and cultural protection laws that would normally slow this down. Calls to stop it have gone unheard, so we’re making ourselves heard.
As Amy Juan of the Tohono O’odham Nation put it: “The United States government is destroying all beautiful and historic lands on the border, and we care just as much about those areas as ours.”
The County’s own plan says economic development should align with our community’s shared values. It calls the Tohono O’odham Nation an equal partner and names Organ Pipe as one of our greatest assets. Pima County cannot claim those values while paying the company that is walling off Organ Pipe.
We don’t do business with companies that do this kind of work. This does not represent our community’s values. This does not represent our community.
OUR DEMAND:
End Pima County’s contracts with Sundt Construction and do not initiate new business with them until they end their contract with DHS.
HOW TO SHOW UP:
Be there TOMORROW by 5 PM. Unfinished business can come up at any point in the meeting, so plan to stay.
Arrive early and fill out a speaker card if you want to give public comment.
Bring a friend. Numbers are the pressure.
Can’t make it? Email or call your Supervisor before the meeting and say: “End the County’s contracts with Sundt.”
