🌟Helping the local community prepare for winter with over £100,000 in donations and 600 volunteering hours so far in 2026!
The Port of Dover has continued its commitment to support the local community in 2026, by helping to sustain the running of community hubs throughout the year before the winter months bring higher operational costs and unpredictable weather.
600 employee volunteering hours, (including help from port contractors) has helped to improve local spaces, create more resilient environments, and enhance school educational areas.
Highlights include:
Building an eco-toilet and revamping a sensory path at Shepherdswell Primary School
Tidying up the grounds of St Mary’s Church in Dover, and planting over 1000 bulbs to bloom in the spring.
Building new features at Lydden Primary School’s forest school, including a safe, durable outdoor shelter so children can enjoy whatever the weather.
Developing Woodpecker Court CIC’s horticulture area including building a huge polytunnel.
Some of the beneficiaries of the Port of Dover Community Fund include South Kent Mind, Dover Foodbank, Emmaus Dover and Age Concern Dover.
