The 2026 edition of Art Basel Paris will conclude today at 7 pm. The fair will be closed on Saturday and Sunday, 24–25 October.
Our presentation by Berlin based artists Rosario Aninat & Simon Shim-Sutcliffe is on view in the Emergence Sector at Booth M24. Images of the installation and information about the works is available on our website.
The presentation features new sculptures reimagining two Neolithic Chinese ritual forms: the cong and the bi. Working across stone, glass, plaster, metal, and wood, the duo explore how the cosmological idea that “Heaven is round, Earth is square” can be reactivated within contemporary life.
A large pyramidal structure supports the sculptures at different levels, creating a microcosm of relationships shaped by architecture, hierarchy, and space.

Rosario Aninat & Simon Shim-Sutcliffe (b. 1993, Santiago, b. 1997, Toronto)
@rosarioaninat @simonshimsutcliffe are a Chilean-Canadian duo whose collaborative practice combines sculpture, photography, and immersive installations to explore monumental infrastructure: highways, dams, aqueducts. Drawing on their shared experience of how the promises of industrial modernity have unraveled, they examine the tensions between human bodies, built systems, and shifting landscapes, and how the ruins of modernity persist in the socio-material traces of infrastructure.
Recent solo exhibitions have taken place at Final Hot Desert, London (2024); Pech, Vienna (2024); Etta, Düsseldorf (2023); Fondation Fiminco, Paris (2023); Mutter, Amsterdam (2022); fffriedrich, Frankfurt (2021); Jo-Anne, Frankfurt (2021). In 2025 they received the Hessische Kulturstiftung Reisestipendium to undertake a three-month research project across China, focusing on the large-scale South–North Water Transfer Project. In 2026 they received the Förderpreis der Kunststiftung Rainer Wild award, which will culminate in a solo exhibition at Kunsthalle Mannheim.
