Finding Her Roots, One Byrne at a Time ☘️💚

One of the most meaningful parts of our Ireland journey has been helping my wife explore her Irish roots. Her father’s surname is Byrne, and that name has given our travels a special purpose.
We’ve wandered through old cemeteries, carefully reading weathered headstones, and stopped to chat with business owners whose signs bear her family name. Each encounter gives us another story, another question, and a reason to keep looking.
Then came a surprise we never expected—at the Guinness Storehouse.
There, among the surnames honoring the people who worked at Guinness through the years, was BYRNE, displayed proudly above us. Seeing her standing beneath that name, smiling and pointing, became one of my favorite moments of this trip.
We don’t yet know whether any of those Byrnes belong to her family branch. There are still names to connect and stories to uncover. But seeing her father’s name woven into Ireland’s history made the search feel wonderfully personal.
For me, the joy has been watching her discover those connections—and being beside her as she does.
Some of the best moments of this trip began with a single familiar name. ☘️
