His photographs have been seen around the world. But how much do we know about the man behind the images? Following its inaugural edition dedicated to Joel Meyerowitz in 2025, Polka Gallery is dedicating the second edition of Immersion to Steve McCurry, one of the leading figures in contemporary photography. Conceived by Polka, the “Immersion” exhibition invites visitors to dive into a photographer’s world to explore his creative process and rediscover, in a new light, a body of work we think we know so well.  Last September, Adélie de Ipanema @adeliedeipanema , director of Polka Gallery, and filmmaker Florent Lacaze travelled to Pennsylvania to meet Steve McCurry. Over the course of three days, they followed him from his studio to his extensive archives and onto the streets of Philadelphia, gaining an intimate insight into the working methods of one of photography’s greatest masters. At Polka Gallery, four previously unseen films are presented alongside some thirty prints, including iconic images and works that have never been exhibited before. Together, the photographs and film sequences reveal how an image takes shape, the precision of McCurry’s compositions, and the distinctive qualities of his photographic style.
