3 days agoI always tell people: There is no such thing as a “perfect” victim. Believe them ANYWAY. ❤️
6 days agoAnd also another misconception is that people think that abuse only happens by husbands but it can happen by your parents and siblings to and it can be even past adulthood

9 days agoMy ex got me banned from a private club 18 months after I moved out. I had to sue to find out how he did this. Thru discovery in the lawsuit, I saw emails and texts and did depositions. He and his pals lied, of course, and withheld court-ordered discovery, but we got enough to see that he complained that I was still being invited there by my girlfriends. His pals made up lies that I was saying he'd raped me and abused me (he is in his 80's and I am in my 60's, and, trust me, no one was raping anyone), and that I'd been sexually approaching married men there !!!!! None of which was true. The board banned me with a horrific email. Then other clubs he was in did the same to me based on that ban. It destroyed my reputation and me, frankly, and I had no choice but to sue to try to recover my reputation. Three years of lawsuit, a dozen lawyers. I sued the club, my ex, and two men there. I just got a pile of $$ in settlement as there was no way a judge and jury would believe their lies. But it has been pure hell. I didn't realize the DV aspect of it until after the civil suit was filed, but I could have pursued all of them criminally with DV, too, as he was my ex and they were aiding and abetting his DV of me.
9 days agoyou know your dad is not great when things about intimate partner violence remind you of him. he never hit me. but man, was there emotional hell in my home growinf up. id also like to add on that trans men experience rape, dv, and ipv at higher rates than trans women and at roughly the same rate as cis women, according to the forge survey. id argue we may even experience it more. i know several cis women who dont have a dv story. but wvery trans man i know has one. wveyry single one. just because were men doesnt make the abuse go away. 36% of trans men have been sexually assaulted as an adult. 50% as children. 23% have experienced abuse on dates. 36% have experienced domestic violence. 18% have experienced stalking. 29% have experienced hate violence. its just proof that society at large does nor consider trans men real men, and we do not have the true male privilege many people think we do. if we did, we wouldnt have an aberage in 1 in 2 trans men experiencing intimate partner violence. theres a study on jama network that shows that trans men experience rape and sexual assault at a higher rate per year than cis women. Physical, Sexual, and Intimate Partner Violence Among Transgender and Gender-Diverse Individuals this is the studies name
