AND THE NEWWW ICO BRITISH CHAMPION!

Last night I made my return to the cage after 8years! Fighting in pro K1 rules against x5 world champion Kevin Ward. Not the performance I wanted but it was exactly the kind of fight I needed, naturally I’m a cruiserweight I weighed in at 88kg and walked into the fight around the same so I was over 7kg lighter than Kev and I definitely felt the size difference 😂

I was strong and resilient but obviously fighting at heavyweight I wasnt in the shape I would have liked to have been in.
After watching the fight back it wasn’t bad, I stuck to the game plan, I did feel stagnant at times as Kev is a very experienced and tricky opponent, I’m used to having my own way but he was tricky and hard to pin down, me only being 4-0-0 as a pro, and Kev having over 70 pro fights I knew what I was stepping into. BUT it’s exactly what I wanted in a fight, if we’re not testing ourselves then what’s the point. We put on a show!

I knew coming up to heavyweight facing an opponent of this level in a 5round title fight I couldn’t just go guns blazing from the first bell, I know I can take what ever people through at me and keep coming forward, I’m tough as they come, always have been, you have to kill me to stop me coming forward, so I had to absorb some punishment in the earlier rounds just chipping away at the game plan. Eventually it worked

I was very sharp in the warm up, but ring rust is real when you’ve been out the game 8years and step straight back into a fight of this magnitude, it was expected. No warm up fights, straight in there with one of the best to ever do it and that’s what we DO!

Huge credit to Kev it was amazing sharing the cage with someone of this level.
I can’t even walk today you horrible man and I know your legs are f*cked to 😂
Wish you nothing but the best brother and a speedy recovery! Warriors respect warriors.

I hope everyone who came to watch was entertained!! Thanks for all the support!

Big shout out to my corner team! @tomkirk_k1 @kierandoych1
