BACK TO BASICS: BUILDING MORE THAN DRUMMERS!
After our trip to Hershey Park on Saturday, we returned on Sunday to invest in our youth in a different way. Our Infamous Unstoppables Drumline spent time learning the fundamentals under the leadership of Lincoln University Percussion Director Tyree Miller.
But going “Back to Basics” is about so much more than learning how to hold a drumstick. It’s about discipline, patience, character, and personal growth.
* Learning how to carry yourself with confidence and respect.
* Learning how to redirect frustration into something positive.
* Learning that it’s okay to make mistakes because mistakes are part of the learning process.
* Understanding that growth takes time, practice, and a willingness to keep trying, even when things get difficult.
At the African American Cultural Alliance, we believe our youth deserve more than opportunities to perform. They deserve opportunities to grow, develop life skills, build confidence, and become the best versions of themselves.
Sometimes, moving forward means going back to the basics.
A special thank you to Tyree Miller & Nate Harris for sharing your knowledge, experience, and passion with our young people. Your investment goes beyond the drums, and the lessons learned will carry far beyond the practice room.
