Kids club 👊 Keep ’em moving!

Some of my fondest childhood memories are training with my dad. I remember being so eager to learn, constantly asking, “Dad, show me this! Show me that!” Feels like yesterday.

Now, all these years later, I find myself in his shoes, sharing those same moments with my own kids. Funny how life comes full circle. Time flies.

What a blessing fatherhood is ❤️🙏📷 @evanpaterakis

I’m deeply saddened about this news. This photo was taken when we played together in Tokyo this past September. He wasn’t looking very well and actually performed his set while seated, but it was incredible, 100% pure “Magic” set. It breaks my heart that this became the final moment with him.

As everybody knows, he was the true originator who shaped the blueprint of techno - a format that has since become one of the biggest club music genres in the world. Without him, techno simply wouldn’t exist.

When I first started producing, his music had a profound influence on me. I studied his track structures and tones inside out, listening to each of his songs thousands of times.

Once I established myself as a professional artist, I had the privilege of playing alongside him around the world as his fellow @randsrecords label mate. We shared stages across Europe - in countries like Belgium and Spain - at DEMF in Detroit, and, of course, many times here in Japan.

I first met him back in ’94 in Gent Belgium, when I was invited to a house party at a home of an R&S staff. I remember we were eating a local rabbit stew cooked in Trappist beer when he suddenly asked for ice cream. He was a wonderful mentor who was usually quiet and of few words, but always full of humor whenever he spoke.

Your legacy will live on forever. Rest in peace, Juan Atkins.
