I am humbled and grateful to receive the Innovation Excellence Award at the Tanzania Medical Students’ Association 18th International Scientific Conference & 16th General Assembly, for my essay on uterine fibroids.

This idea started with a question that has stayed with me as a medical student, why do so many women in Tanzania live with fibroid symptoms for years before anyone names them? Too often, pain is brushed off as “normal,” and care comes late.

My essay imagined how technology, in our own language and built for our own context, could help women get answers sooner.

I’m so grateful to TAMSA for creating a space where student ideas are taken seriously, to the judges for believing in this one, and to everyone who has encouraged me along the way. 🙏
