A man identified as Farman was arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend when she refused to accept gifts from him.

The incident reportedly took place on October 23, while CCTV footage of the assault surfaced on social media on November 2.

The footage shows the woman waiting at an isolated location as Farman arrives carrying two gift bags. When she refuses to accept them, he allegedly starts slapping and beating her before throwing the bags away and leaving the spot.

The woman is later seen kicking the gift bags towards a drain.

Following the incident and a complaint from the woman's family, Civil Lines Police registered a case and arrested Farman on November 2. He was subsequently sent to jail, while further investigation is underway.

Gina Hinojosa has defeated Gov. Greg Abbott in the Texas governor’s race, a stunning outcome that ends three decades of Republican control in Texas and makes her the first Latina to ever lead the state.

“Here’s what Texas said today, loud and clear: Your government belongs to you,” said Hinojosa in her victory speech. “As your governor, I will never forget it.”

“It has been the joy of my life to have the opportunity to be the governor of the great state of Texas,” Abbott said during his concession speech. “There are still votes to be counted, but mathematically, we are not going to be able to win this election.”
