A NARROW ESCAPE

The moment I descend, the world above slowly disappears.

Underwater I enter a completely different world. The noise, the rush, everything that normally demands your attention simply fades away. All I hear is my own breathing, the bubbles rising above me and, somewhere in the background, my heartbeat.

And with every metre I descend, that heartbeat becomes calmer.

Today that world took me into The Canyon in Dahab. Through narrow passages, beneath rock formations and surrounded by thousands of tiny fish. Light finding its way through the openings above, while for a moment it feels as if there is nothing else.

Just me, my breathing and the underwater world around me.

A narrow escape… from the world above. 🌊
