Remember when walking into a mall felt like stepping into a dozen different worlds? 🛍️✨

Back in the day, stores went all out with bright colors, giant logos, glowing neon and over-the-top displays. Hot Topic, Abercrombie & Fitch, Victoria’s Secret and PacSun each had a look you could recognize from across the food court.

Over time, a lot of those retailers have swapped their signature entrances and colorful interiors for neutral tones, clean lines and sleek, modern layouts.

The updates match where retail design is heading, but plenty of shoppers miss the old vibe. For a whole generation, those bold storefronts were half the fun of a trip to the mall.
