Mumbai’s iconic Shivaji Park in Dadar is set to remain firecracker-free this Diwali as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) steps up enforcement of the Bombay High Court’s directions. Ahead of Diwali 2026, the civic body plans to install warning boards across the area to inform citizens about the restrictions and coordinate with the local Shivaji Park Police Station to ensure compliance. The move follows concerns raised by local residents over noise and air pollution caused by firecrackers, particularly the inconvenience faced by senior citizens living in the neighbourhood. Residents’ groups have also called for regular police patrolling and strict action against violators. The initiative aims to ensure a safer and quieter Diwali while reinforcing the importance of following court-mandated restrictions. . . Follow - @tcx.official . . Russell Brand, the British comedian and actor, was convicted on Thursday at Southwark Crown Court in London of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault. The judge warned the 51-year-old that he faces jail, with sentencing to come at a later date. The jury cleared Brand of two further rape charges and one count of attempted indecent assault. The verdict came during the fourth week of his trial. Brand had denied every allegation, arguing that the encounters were consensual or that his accusers had invented or recast events after the fact. Head to the link in bio for the full story
