R.I.P. JUAN ATKINS 🖤 I can hardly believe this heartbreaking news. We have lost one of the true visionaries and founding fathers of electronic music. A pioneer who didn’t just create music but helped shape its future. With Cybotron, Model 500 and his legendary Metroplex label, Juan laid the foundations of what we know today as techno. His vision inspired generations and helped build a musical bridge between Detroit and Berlin, with Tresor becoming such an important part of that connection. Detroit always had a special place in my heart, and at our Omen club in Frankfurt, we always had our doors open to the Detroit pioneers and their extraordinary sound. That musical exchange was such an important part of our culture. Juan and I crossed paths many times over the decades, always with mutual respect, joy and a shared passion for music. His records have accompanied and inspired me since the early days. They remain part of my musical journey, and it meant a lot to me to include his music on my What I Used to Play compilation. Juan was truly ahead of his time. His unique fusion of futuristic sounds, soul, funk and electronic machines opened doors to an entirely new musical universe. My heart goes out to his family, loved ones, friends and fellow artists during this painful time. Dear Juan, your music, your vision and your spirit will live on. On our turntables, on our dancefloors and in our hearts. Thank you for opening the doors to the future. Rest in peace, dear Juan. With love, Sven
Coming from a highly competitive industry where support wasn’t always easy to find, this took me a minute to learn. But oh boy! You grow so much faster when your friends grow too. That energy of growth is magnetic. There’s no expiration date on learning something new. Evolving and learning are part of being human, and that’s something I’ll never take for granted. At the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey, it hurt when people didn’t support me the way I hoped or fully understand what I was trying to build. Something I’ve learned: your first cheerleader should always be YOU. Cringe is a price you pay for growth. If you’re trying to play it cool from day one, you’ll hold yourself back. You have to care more about what you’re building than how you look while doing it. One thing I appreciate about American business culture is how many people who’ve succeeded find fulfillment in helping others. What’s the worst that can happen when you ask? They say no? You’ll survive, haha. I used to be scared to try new things, especially after a failure. Then I realized how many successful entrepreneurs had failed before they succeeded. It’s part of the game. If you want to build something successful, no job should be beneath you. That’s the mindset I bring, and I only hire people who share it.
Meet our latest Jewish bachelorette Leehey! I’m 30, 5’4”, and a COO based in Miami, originally from Nashville. I’m ambitious and independent, and I love building a life I’m proud of. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, discovering new places, finding great dinner spots, and spending quality time with the people closest to me. I’m always up for an adventure, but I’m just as happy having a relaxed night at home with the right person. I’m thoughtful, loyal, and adventurous. I value kindness and consistency, and I’m drawn to someone with a good heart, a sense of humor, and goals of their own. Effort and following through mean a lot to me. I’m dating intentionally and looking for someone confident, emotionally mature, and ready for a real partnership. Ultimately, I want someone I can laugh with, grow with, and build a life with—my best friend and partner. Are you her Jewish husband? Message us at @letsmakejewishbabies
Kindness. Grace. Generosity. Here is a young man on Halloween, not thinking about what he could receive, but seeing an opportunity to give. He saw a need others might have overlooked and found an unexpected way to meet it. May his simple act of generosity inspire us all to look a little closer, care a little more, and find creative and unexpected ways to give to others. May we see more of this. May we be more of this. op: manny86ortiz
