This detail is from “What the Light Reveals” by Helen Ziga, one of the works included in Abstract in Asheville.
Helen Ziga
@helenzigastudio is a Marietta, Georgia-based artist whose practice centers on constructed relief works exploring the relationships between color, form, depth, and movement. Her work draws from American modernism and geometric abstraction, as well as the color, pattern, craft, and visual traditions of Eastern European folk art. She is particularly interested in the space between structure and intuition – beginning with simple geometric forms and allowing the composition to evolve through an intuitive process of arranging, rearranging, and constructing. Dimensional surfaces bring light, shadow, and reflection into the work, creating an experience that changes as the viewer moves around it.
